StarTran’s Offer

StarTran’s negotiating team gave its final offer to ATU Local 1091 during contract negotiations with a federal mediator on Sept. 11, 2008.

Highlights of the final offer include:

  • Annual pay raises over the next three years (3%, 3%, 3.25%) and a $1000 signing bonus
  • Comprehensive healthcare and dental plans and expanded wellness benefits
  • Increase in annual uniform and tools allowance
  • Performance incentives that speed up the timeline to reach top pay

This revised final offer addresses some of the union’s main concerns, including phased-in health insurance deductibles to lessen the financial impact to employees; a change in contract language to require mutual agreement before any changes could be implemented to the health care plan during the term of the contract; and, keeping the same term for preventable accidents as is in the current contract (three preventable accidents in a rolling 12-month period will result in disciplinary action up to and including discharge).
